The very first record of lucid dreaming appears to feature in the treatise On Dreams by the Ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle.
It is often used as treatment for people with PTSD i.e Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It’s a disorder that happens to people who have gone through bad experiences e.g war, abuse…etc. People with PTSD often have nightmares, so they are trained on how to control their dreams (i.e lucid dreams).
People without nightmares too can lucid dream. It’s like daydreaming but one is also sleeping. An estimate of 55% of the human population have had one or more lucid dream in their lifetime. It helps with creativity too, the sky is the limit when one can create new things or birth new ideas while lucid dreaming
