26 Sit-At-Home Enforcers Apprehended by Police in Imo

The Imo State Police Command arrests 26 enforcers of illegal sit-at-home order

The Imo State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in its efforts to maintain law and order in the state. The command recently announced the arrest of 26 individuals who were enforcers of an illegal sit-at-home order, allegedly orchestrated by members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Additionally, the police also apprehended 53 other suspects involved in various criminal activities, including conspiracy, armed robbery, murder, defilement, kidnapping, child trafficking, unlawful possession of prohibited firearms, car snatching, and the vandalization of electrical cables.

“These are suspects that were linked with various criminal cases. In the course of investigating the cases, a total of 32 assault guns, made up of two AK-47 rifles, 70 rounds of ammunition, five snatched but recovered vehicles, seven motorcycles retrieved from their snatchers, kidnappers, and criminal suspects,”

According to the police spokesman in Imo State, Henry Okoye, the arrested sit-at-home enforcers were detained following a shootout with the police in Irete community along Onitsha Road, where they were unlawfully enforcing the sit-at-home order. Investigations are currently underway to gather further information regarding their affiliation with IPOB.

Furthermore, during a press conference held at the Command headquarters in Owerri, the state capital, Okoye stated that the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Barde, and the entire hierarchy of the Command are committed to ensuring that socio-economic activities thrive in the state. The parade of the 53 other suspects is evidence of their dedication to maintaining law and order.
