Adeleke Extends Heartfelt Sympathy to Ikire Flood Victims, Urges Unity in Turbulent Times

Governor of Osun State expresses sympathy after flood disaster in Ikire

The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has expressed his sympathy for the people of Ikire following a recent flood disaster that affected the western area of the state. In a statement released by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke acknowledged that the heavy rainfall was responsible for the unfortunate event.

“It is touching to learn about the monumental damages that flood has wrecked on homes and livelihoods in Ikire. The scale of the losses suffered by our people as a result of the flood disaster is too heavy especially at a time of economic strain as now.”

“I want to, on behalf of the State Government, convey heartfelt sympathy to everyone affected in one way or the other. As a government, we stand with the people of Ikire in this difficult moment and assure them of our commitment to support them overcome the challenges posed by the incident.”

The Governor reassured the victims of the incident that the government would do everything within its capacity to provide support and assistance to those affected. He also emphasized that his administration had already taken preventative measures against flooding, including expanding waterways and opening up water channels to ensure the free flow of water and prevent similar disasters.

  1. The Governor has directed the Commissioner of Environment to address the root cause of the flooding to prevent future occurrences.
  2. He urged the people of Osun State to remain calm and assured them that the government would mobilize all necessary resources to confront the challenge and keep the people and their properties safe.
  3. The Governor also called on the people of the state to avoid habits such as dumping refuse on waterways, which could contribute to flooding.

The Governor’s empathetic statement and commitment to addressing the issue of flooding in the state show his dedication to the welfare of the people of Osun.
