“Governor Rotimi Akeredolu‘s Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties and Strategies, Doyin Odebowale, has accused some politicians of benefiting from the current health status of his principal.”
“These rootless politicians, ostensible representatives of the people without followers, believe that the best way to portray the current health challenge of the governor is to spread falsehood against those perceived as impediments to their prebendal predilections.”
In the latest political scuffle in Ondo State, Doyin Odebowale, the Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties and Strategies to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, has claimed that some politicians are using Rotimi’s leave of 21-day leave for medical treatment abroad as an opportunity to fuel their selfish desires. Citing that these politicians, he refers to as “rootless” believe the best way to climb the political ranks is to spread untruths.
“The people of Ondo State are compelled to see, continually, heart-corroding histrionics, enacted in a most irresponsible manner, by certain mediocre, wicked and morally bankrupt elements, who seek to draw mileage from the absence of the Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, in the state.”
Odebowale didn’t mince his words when he referred to these politicians as mediocre, wicked, and morally bankrupt. Odebowale although sympathetic to the Governor’s condition, expressed his displeasure that the health condition was being used for political gain.
The statement also claimed these politicians were sabotaging appointments and insinuating supporters of the government to be corrupt. These actions decrease the trust the people have in the government and continue Ondo’s misery.
“As they are bereft of the capacity for altruistic service and competence, their understanding of governance is all about sharing money and compounding the people’s misery.”
The aide pointed out that these politicians had no altruistic motive behind their political games, but to line their pockets. Furthermore, they had no regards for the welfare and wellbeing of the people, for their greed only breeds misery.
Odebowale’s statement had to come as a shock to many in Ondo, questioning the morals of these corrupt politicians and asking whether they truly had good intentions for the state. They were elected by the people to govern Ondo to deliver good governance and not play political games at their expense.
