Dedicated Armed Forces Vow to Secure Peace, CDS Reassures Plateau and Zamfara Governors

Amid the security challenges ravaging the North-West, North-Central and other parts of the country, the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Christopher Musa has reiterated the commitment of the Armed Forces to ensuring peace in troubled areas.

Major General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, has restated the dedication of the Armed Forces to establishing tranquility in the midst of the ongoing security challenges in the North-West, North-Central, and other affected regions of the country.

Musa stated this on Wednesday while receiving Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal; and his Plateau State counterpart, Caleb Muftwang, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

During a visit to the Defence Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, Major General Musa expressed this commitment in a meeting with Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State and Governor Caleb Muftwang of Plateau State.

Addressing the Plateau governor and his entourage, the CDS said that the nation’s armed forces “is determined and committed to ensuring peace in the Plateau.”

Speaking directly to Governor Muftwang and his delegation, Major General Musa assured them that the armed forces of the nation are resolutely dedicated to restoring peace and harmony in Plateau State.

According to a statement by the defence spokesman, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Musa condoled Muftwang over the unnecessary killings in Plateau.

Musa said, “There is a need to know the basis of the problems and to also carry all the stakeholders along in finding a lasting solution to the crisis ravaging the state.”

Major General Musa emphasized the importance of understanding the root causes of the issues and involving all stakeholders in the pursuit of a sustainable solution to the crisis that has plagued the state.

On his part, the governor congratulated the CDS on his appointment, describing Musa as a professional to the core.

Governor Muftwang congratulated Major General Musa on his appointment and praised him as an exemplary professional in his field.

He also expressed his undoubting belief that the CDS will make an impact by deploying his experiences to bear in dealing with the security challenges in Plateau.

The governor expressed unwavering confidence in Major General Musa, stating his belief that the Chief of Defence Staff’s extensive experience will greatly contribute to addressing the security challenges prevalent in Plateau State.

Receiving the Zamfara governor, the CDS assured Governor Lawal of the military’s readiness to provide every necessary security assistance to the state.

When meeting Governor Lawal of Zamfara State, Major General Musa assured him that the military is fully prepared to offer any required security support to the state.

He also commiserated with Zamfara people over the recent attacks, pledging to ensure “troops are on top of their games and that synergy between the AFN and other security agencies will be enhanced.”

Major General Musa expressed his condolences to the people of Zamfara State regarding the recent attacks and vowed to guarantee that the troops remain vigilant, while also promising to strengthen coordination between the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) and other security agencies.

In his remarks, Lawal called for more funding for the armed forces, seeking concerted efforts between the locals and security agencies in the state.

Governor Lawal emphasized the necessity for increased funding for the armed forces and appealed for united efforts between the local community and security agencies within the state.
