Dramatic Hotel Fire Forces New Zealand World Cup Squad to Evacuate

New Zealand’s Women’s World Cup squad was temporarily evacuated from its hotel in Auckland on Saturday after a fire, the team said, but all players and staff were safe.

The New Zealand Women’s World Cup squad had a terrifying experience on Saturday when their hotel in Auckland was evacuated due to a fire. Fortunately, all players and staff members were able to safely evacuate the premises.

It was not immediately clear what caused it, but a Fire and Emergency spokesperson told AFP that there had been “multiple blazes” at the hotel, which have since been extinguished.

While the cause of the fire was not immediately known, a spokesperson from the Fire and Emergency department informed AFP that there were multiple fires at the hotel. Fortunately, these fires were quickly put out by the emergency services.

  1. Some people at the hotel were treated for smoke inhalation, but no serious injuries were reported.

During the incident, a few individuals at the hotel required medical attention for smoke inhalation. Thankfully, there were no major injuries reported.

A member of the hotel staff told AFP that the upper floors were affected by smoke but the situation was quickly brought under control.

An employee of the hotel informed AFP that the upper floors of the building were filled with smoke. However, the situation was swiftly managed by the emergency response team.

The fire service does not suspect any foul play and believes the fire was accidental.

“New Zealand Football can confirm that the Football Ferns team and staff have been temporarily evacuated from the Pullman Hotel, their team base for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, due to a fire,” NZ Football said in a statement.

New Zealand Football released a statement confirming that the Football Ferns team and staff were forced to evacuate the Pullman Hotel, which served as their base for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, due to a fire.

“All of the team and staff are safe and accounted for.”

The statement from New Zealand Football assured that all team members and staff were safe and accounted for.

New Zealand, along with Australia, is co-hosting the Women’s World Cup. The team had recently won their opening match against Norway with a score of 1-0.
