Former Presidential Spokesman Ima Niboro has praised Nigerian President Bola Tinubu for the bold moves he has made since taking office on May 29. Tinubu’s decisions have included the removal of fuel subsidies, suspending Abdurasheed Bawa as the Chair of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, and removing Godwin Emefiele as the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor. These actions have invalidated fears about the new president’s age and health in the run-up to the 2023 election.
In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Niboro said that Tinubu has “hit the ground running”, showing that his capacity for governance is remarkable. In just three weeks, Tinubu has appointed some special advisers, chosen from those he trusts and knows well, people who know his direction and understand his goals. Niboro described these appointments as “commendable”. He further highlighted that each of the advisers fit well into their positions. Concerning the appointment of Nuhu Ribadu as Special Adviser on Security, Niboro stated that it was the “presidential prerogative.”
