Exclusive: Zaha Engages in Exciting Discussions with Galatasaray Before Bidding Emotional Goodbye to Palace

Ivory Coast international Wilfried Zaha, on Monday, said he will leave Premier League side Crystal Palace, with Turkish champions Galatasaray revealing they are in talks with the forward.

Wilfried Zaha, the talented Ivorian player, has announced his departure from Crystal Palace, stirring up excitement as Turkish champions Galatasaray express their interest in signing him.

Zaha, 30, turned down signing a new contract worth a reported £200,000 ($256,000) a week from the London club whom he joined aged 12.

Despite Crystal Palace offering him a whopping £200,000 per week, the 30-year-old forward has made the bold decision to decline the new contract. Zaha has been loyal to the London club since he was 12 years old, but it seems he has his sights set elsewhere.

“As I start a new chapter I want to speak to you Palace fans who mean so much to me,” Zaha posted on Instagram.

“We have been through so much together, including 10 years in the Prem (Premier League).

“There are loads of amazing memories that will stay in my head forever and also some really tough times along the way, but I’m so proud to have played my part in getting us to the Prem and helping to keep us there.”

Zaha took to Instagram to address the devoted Palace fans, expressing his gratitude and acknowledging the journey they shared together. He reminisced about the memorable moments and the challenges they faced, ultimately expressing his pride in his contribution to the team’s success in reaching and remaining in the Premier League.

Zaha — who played twice for England before declaring for the country of his birth, Ivory Coast — said he hoped Palace fans would remember the positives rather than the negatives from his long service.

“I’ve been wearing the Palace shirt since I was eight years old, it’s literally been my second skin and I always gave everything when I wore it,” he said.

“You have all seen me angry and frustrated, but you’ve also seen my hunger and passion and the joy that I take from winning, and I hope that is the memory that lives on in the minds of Palace fans.”

Zaha, who briefly represented England before choosing to play for his home country of Ivory Coast, pleaded with the Palace faithful to focus on the positives rather than the negatives of his lengthy tenure. The 30-year-old shared that wearing the Palace shirt had always been a part of who he is, emphasizing his unwavering dedication and letting fans know that while they witnessed moments of anger and frustration, they also witnessed his immense passion, hunger for success, and the sheer joy he experienced from winning.

Zaha joined Manchester United for £10 million in 2013 but he never settled, playing just twice, and aside from the two loan spells with Palace also went on loan to Cardiff.

He re-joined Palace permanently in 2015.

Zaha’s football journey took an unexpected turn when he joined Manchester United for £10 million in 2013. Unfortunately, he struggled to find his footing, only making two appearances for the club. In addition to his two loan spells with Palace, Zaha also had a stint at Cardiff. However, in 2015, he made the decision to return to Crystal Palace, where he would find his true home in the football world.

Although he has been linked with Serie A side Lazio, Saudi outfit Al-Nassr and Turkish side Fenerbahce, it is the latter’s great rivals Galatasaray who appear to have edged ahead in the race to sign him.

Galatasaray confirmed in a tweet “formal negotiations have been initiated” with the player.

While there have been rumors linking Zaha to Serie A’s Lazio, Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, and Turkish team Fenerbahce, it seems that Galatasaray, the rivals of the latter, have taken a significant step forward in securing his signature. Galatasaray made it known through a tweet that formal negotiations with the player have begun, indicating that they are serious about bringing him on board.
