Innoson Slams the Brakes on N3m Scholarship After Discovering Result Forgery by Mmesoma

INNOSON VEHICLES WITHDRAWS SCHOLARSHIP FOLLOWING UTME SCORE MANIPULATION

July 8, 2023

In a shocking turn of events, Innoson Vehicles has withdrawn the N3m scholarship it awarded to Miss Joy Mmesoma Ejikeme. This decision comes after a probe into a results forgery claim against Ejikeme, the embattled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidate.

Ejikeme had claimed to have scored an impressive 362, which would have placed her at the top of the list of this year’s best-performing candidates. However, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) vehemently refuted her claim, stating that her result was manipulated. This prompted the Anambra State Government to take action and establish a committee of inquiry to investigate the matter.

The panel’s findings were made public in an eight-page report on Friday, confirming that Ejikeme did indeed manipulate her result. She had given herself a score of 362, when her actual score was 249. This revelation left Innoson Group with no choice but to swiftly rescind the scholarship offer it had extended to the 19-year-old.

In a series of tweets signed by its Head of Corporate Communications and Affairs, Cornel Osigwe, Innoson Group expressed its disappointment with the findings. The company stressed that Ejikeme’s actions directly contradicted the core values it held dear, such as honesty, integrity, and merit-based recognition.

“In line with these principles and response to the confirmed findings, we have made the difficult decision to withdraw the scholarship awarded to Miss Joy Mmesoma Ejikeme,” Innoson Group stated.

“This action is a testament to our unyielding commitment to honesty, integrity, and merit-based recognition.”

This turn of events has undoubtedly caused dismay among those who had stood by Ejikeme, including her school principal and other well-meaning supporters. However, Innoson Group explained that maintaining the integrity of their scholarship program and the values it represents is of utmost importance.

The company emphasized its unwavering mission to support deserving students, invest in the future of the education sector, and uphold the highest ethical standards. Innoson Group expressed appreciation to the public, JAMB, the Anambra State Governor’s committee, and all those who have shown understanding and support throughout this challenging situation.
