JAMB Celebrates as Anambra Panel’s Report on Mmesoma Delivers Long-Awaited Vindication

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it has been vindicated in the case of alleged result manipulation by a candidate, Mmesoma Ejikeme, in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This follows the release of a report by a Committee of Inquiry set up by the Anambra State Government to investigate the claims. According to the report, Mmesoma admitted to using her phone to inflate her score from 249 to 362.

JAMB: Our System Cannot Be Compromised

JAMB, which came under criticism for declaring Mmesoma fraudulent, stated in a statement that it will not be deterred by those seeking to tarnish its reputation. The Board emphasized that its system cannot be compromised and that it remains committed to conducting credible and fair assessments. It also urged Nigerians to verify any claims made by candidates, instead of relying on fraudulent apps that promise to enhance scores.

Anambra State Report Vindicates JAMB

The report from the Commission of Inquiry set up by the Anambra State Government confirmed JAMB’s position, further strengthening the Board’s reputation for conducting credible examinations. Despite attempts to undermine its credibility, JAMB remains resolute in its commitment to providing Nigeria with the best assessment practices. The Board warned against doubting the capacity of Ms. Mmesoma, stating that she had admitted to her crime and that attacks on national institutions are disheartening.

  2. Nigerians urged to verify claims made by candidates
  3. Anambra State report supports JAMB’s position

JAMB highlighted the inclusive and fair principles it adheres to, including the use of the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS), which eliminates human interference and ensures equity and transparency in the admission process. The Board assured the public of its unwavering commitment to upholding the sanctity of the educational system and appealed for support from well-meaning Nigerians in encouraging healthy competition.

Lessons to be Learned

The Mmesoma case serves as a reminder that anything goes in Nigeria and that the efforts of critical national institutions should be appreciated. JAMB called for unity and collective support in building a greater Nigeria, while also expressing gratitude to those who stood on the side of truth. The Board urged its detractors to join the movement and congratulated the highest scorer in the 2023 UTME exercise, Miss Umeh Kamsiyochukwu Nkechinyere.
