Popular Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, better known as K1 De Ultimate, has pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to forgive anyone who has offended him, irrespective of tribe or religion.
Forgiveness and Peace
K1 De Ultimate, an exceptional Fuji musician, has pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to extend forgiveness to anyone who might have offended him regardless of their tribe or religion. In his plea, which he sang passionately during a live performance, he implored the need for peace in the country and forgiveness, specifically calling for the return of Igboho.
In his own words, he said, “Asiwaju, please, anyone who has offended you, kindly forgive them. Irrespective of their tribes — Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa — we must embrace ourselves. Akanbi, please let Sunday Igboho come back home. He’s one of our own. One cannot say because one’s daughter has ample buttocks, he would put the waist beads on another man’s daughter. Please, when you (Tinubu) settle properly in the office, kindly resolve this grey area. Let Sunday Igboho return to his root. Likewise, other agitators from various regions call their leaders to a roundtable discussion.”
On Sunday Igboho’s Release From Prison
Sunday Igboho’s arrest at Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou, Benin Republic in July 2021, was followed by various allegations of stockpiling weapons in his residence by the Department of State Services. The secession agitator was later detained in prison in Benin Republic but was released in March 2022 on the condition that he wouldn’t leave the West African country to get medical attention. Since his release, he has remained confined within Cotonou. However, this call from K1 De Ultimate, an award-winning and renowned artist in Nigeria, beckoned toward a peaceful reunion of Sunday Igboho and the president.
As the country reels from the struggle for peace against insecurity, K1 De Ultimate’s appeal to President Bola Tinubu for forgiveness and the return of the secessionist adds to the unity narrative the country so desperately yearns for.
