ZAMFARA STATE POLICE RETURN GOVERNOR’S CONFISCATED PROPERTIES
The Zamfara State Police command has complied with a directive from the Federal High Court in Gusau to return all properties confiscated from former Governor Bello Matawalle. In June, security personnel entered two homes owned by Matawalle and removed some vehicles on the basis of a court order. The vehicles, numbering forty, were taken from the two former governor’s mansions.
COURT ORDER FOR RETURN OF PROPERTIES
However, on June 15th, a federal high court sitting in Gusau ordered all involved parties to return all items taken from the ex-governor’s houses to the court premises within forty-eight hours. The Zamfara State Police Command’s spokesperson, Yazid Abubakar, alleged that the command had complied with the directive and had begun bringing the vehicles back to the Federal High Court’s grounds while waiting for the court’s decision. Note that the court issued an order of interim injunction prohibiting them from acting in any way related to the case while the motion is heard and decided.
GOOD NEWS FOR FORMER GOVERNOR MATAWALLE
This development will come as good news to the former zamfara state governor who had his properties confiscated in a high-profile case. The return of his vehicles goes a long way in calming his high-strung nerves. The courts will decide on the matter soon and bring whatever justice the situation demands.
