Police Showcase Alleged Attacker of Apostle Suleman and Cohorts in Dramatic Parade

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested one of the suspected attackers of a Christian cleric, Apostle Johnson Suleman.

Months after the attack on Apostle Johnson Suleman’s convoy, which resulted in the death of six of his aides, the Nigeria Police Force has made a breakthrough in the case. They have successfully apprehended one of the suspects involved, Yusuf Ismail Isa, and paraded him along with 19 other suspects at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Parading the suspects before journalists, the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) has so far arrested 548 armed robbery suspects, 246 kidnap suspects, 365 murder suspects, 237 rape suspects and rescued 113 victims.

Adejobi disclosed that Isah was the suspect, who first pulled the trigger on the convoy of the cleric, adding that some of the rifles found in his possession were rifles snatched from the three police officers killed during the October 21, 2022 attack.

Diving deeper into the specific case involving the attack on Apostle Johnson Suleman, Adejobi revealed that Yusuf Ismail Isa was one of the assailants responsible for the violence. Not only did he pull the trigger on the cleric’s convoy, but some of the rifles found in his possession were the very same rifles that were taken from the three police officers who lost their lives during the incident.

According to the police spokesman, the gang specialized in kidnapping for ransom and had carried out about four kidnapping operations between 2021 and 2023, before they were busted by the police.

The Nigeria Police Force had been hot on the trail of this notorious gang, whose primary focus was kidnapping for ransom.
