Honourable Tajudeen Abbas Emerges as the Speaker of the 10th National Assembly
Honourable Tajudeen Abbas from Kaduna State has emerged victorious as the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the 10th National Assembly.
Abbas defeated formidable opponents, Ahmed Idris Wase, the former Deputy Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, and Aminu Sani Jaji.
The outgoing Majority Leader of the House, Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, nominated Tajudeen Abbas as the Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives, and the motion was seconded by Nnolim Nnaji.
The Preferred Candidate of APC Emerges Winner
Tajudeen Abbas was the preferred candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Ado-Doguwa himself withdrew from the speakership race in favour of the party’s candidate.
However, several lawmakers, including Idris Wase, opposed the nomination of Abbas by the APC.
Nominee for the Position of Deputy Speaker
Not only did the ruling party nominate a Speaker for the 10th National Assembly, but they also proposed a nominee for the position of Deputy Speaker.
In the end, the strive of Honourable Tajudeen Abbas did not go to waste as he emerges as the Speaker of the 10th National Assembly, and we look forward to how he will represent the people’s interests in the Nation’s House of Representatives.
