WAEC 2022: Clears the air on the withheld WASSCE results

WAEC office1
The West African Examinations Council has reiterated that all results that were withheld in its exams were due to purported malpractices.
This was said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday, September 15th, 2022, Lagos by the head of the national office, Mr. Patrick Areghan.
Areghan was commenting in response to media claims that claimed the council had withheld candidate results for the alleged 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination on purpose.
Reports that the council was purposefully suppressing the results of candidates from some states in the nation have come to their attention in some circles.
He argues that this is evil, spiteful, deceptive, and a deliberate attempt to bring the name of council into shame.
He made it clear that any candidate whose results are withheld has engaged in alleged examination misconduct.
Innocent candidates would have their results revealed after the requisite investigations into all claimed examination malpractice situations, while the guilty ones would have that subject’s or their entire results canceled.
The Nigeria Examinations Committee will be giving the orders, the WAEC chief said.
In spite of the examination body’s willingness and readiness to preserve friendly connections with all of its stakeholders, he continued, it was inappropriate for some people to threaten to sue the council over the development.
However, he had continued that they had their proof, and anyone who is unsure should contact them. Anywhere they are asked to do so, they are always prepared to argue their position.
He reiterated that they adhere to their policies and procedures. No matter what it takes or who is involved, they will always enforce the same set of laws across the nation.
They will never apply distinct sets of laws to the nation’s states or give any candidate, institution, or state special consideration.
In an effort to sanitize the system, Areghan continued that they will continue to deliver quality services and give their fair share to national progress, according to news agency of Nigeria.
