MARY VS ELIZABETH
The Angel of God did not appear only to Mary but also appeared to Zechariah. The difference was Two-fold and I wanna distinguish the two scenarios and I hope you learn something from it. I wanna point out something.
One was that for Zachariah his wife will no longer be barren but will bear him a child to whose name will be John.
Luke 1: 13 But the angel said to him , “Do not be afraid , Zacharias , for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son , and you shall call his name John.
Then for Mary she will conceive a child while still a virgin by the power of the holy spirit and his name will be Jesus.
The angel spoke to Zachariah about the child and what he will do but the words of the angel were coming into Zachariahs mind through his senses and therefore Zachariah did not really get the “catch”. He was told what is not possible and hey, he asked questions.
luke 1: 18 And Zacharias said to the angel , “How shall I know this? For I am an old man , and my wife is well advanced in years.”
The angel had to introduce himself to Zachariah
luke 1: 19 And the angel answered and said to him ,
“I am Gabriel , who stands in the presence of God , and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings.
However, Angel saw that Zachy is just hearing it as a fable and he did not get the “catch” and see what he said to Zachariah
Luke 1: 20 But behold , you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place , because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time.”
Bam! If he had not been made mute, he would have gisted his friends and they will look at what he said and make fun of him, shutting the door to the spiritual continuum of miracles which is usually unlocked by faith.
Well, let’s get back to Mary..
The Angel Gabriel appeared to mary with even more joyous news and guess what? He told mary about what will happen to her, her child’s name and what her child will do. Unfortunately Mary too didn’t get the catch and she asked questions
Luke 1:34
Then Mary said to the angel , “How can this be , since I do not know a man?”
Angel gabriel had to help her faith (the key to possibilities). He told her about Elizabeth her relative who was barren but became pregnant, and sealed it with what he said in
luke 1:37
“For with God nothing will be impossible.”
If you read what happened when Mary visited elizabeth you will see the outworking of someone who is now in the spirit because as the women they are you should expect them to gist away what is going on but Mary was “in spirit” and her greeting became nothing but a sound code which resonated with the baby inside elizabeth.
Mary’s greetings also popped the bottle of the holy spirit which began to fill into Elisabeth, putting her “in the spirit”
luke 1 41 And it happened , when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary , that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
The holy spirit revealed to Elizabeth what happened to Mary without Mary telling her. Mary praised God.
Spiritual things can neither be captured with our senses, nor our minds. The fact that there is no evidence of spiritual activity to you doesn’t mean that it does not exist. You’re just locked out from it. The things of faith are beyond logic & reasoning.
Its about conscious belief.
